With our own eyes, we cannot see ourselves. Therefore, we examine ourselves in the mirror as a tool to perform the act of refining our own internal and external form. This work began by extending the series of processes of looking in the mirror and finding oneself through Buddhism.
When you open your eyes and try to see yourself, the 'Kinetic Mirror' makes it impossible to see your entire self. Conversely, when you close your eyes, the mirror finally reflects the entire “oneself.” If you try to see it you cannot. If you try not to stare, you can see it. It is as if the mirror is standing in front of you and telling you not to look at it if you want to see the true self. The artist seizes on the curiosity and presents a mirror as a tool for us to seek and answer the questions beyond meanings.
In the middle of countless questions and answers, the mirror becomes a Buddha and the person inside the mirror also becomes a Buddha. Through the medium of the mirror, we exist in both reality and illusion. When we exchange questions and answers, the boundary between reality and emptiness collapses. The process of dialogue becomes the answer I seek. This is the process of self-reflection that the artist wants to achieve through his work, and it will be the image of Buddha that we should see through this exhibition.
