Yeesookyung’s artworks show the cross-section of life and healing by collecting discarded and wounded objects and resurrecting them with new identities. Through this trait, the artworks visually emphasize the meeting of tradition and modernity by dismantling traditional forms and re-emerging them as a new modern language.
Over Yee’s long career, numerous mythological women, including Bari, have appeared in her work. Through this exhibition, a more organic and vigorous world unfolds before us through her overflowing imagination and by her painstaking handcrafted techniques.
This exhibition features various works by Yee, such as works produced in collaboration with Italy's Museo di Capodimonte. Through the collaboration, Yee ’s signature series Translated Vase, Moonlight Crown, which draws out our inner divinity, and Flame, depicting a mythical world in a state of automatism, are shown. In addition, a series of phantasmal drawings Oh Rose! Created in 2022 will also be shown.
