Mother of pearl table exhibition at Triennale Milano-Milano Design Week 2023

The exhibition Mother-of-Pearl Tables, presented at Triennale Milano, reflects the encounter between East and West through the gallery’s collaboration with six internationally acclaimed designers, Alessandro Mendini, Elena Salmistraro, Marcel Wanders, Marco Zanuso Jr, Stefano Giovannoni and Younghee Cha, who were asked to create coffee tables of forceful artistic impact interpreting Jagae (mother-of-pearl), a material that embodies the essence of oriental crafts and culture. The objects, in a limited edition of only 9 pieces per model, were realized by Deokgun Jang and Gyesoon Kang, master artisans working in the region of Tongyeong in Korea, renowned for the production and crafting of mother-of-pearl.
La mostra Mother-of-Pearl Tables, presentata in Triennale Milano, segna l’incontro tra Oriente e Occidente e vede la collaborazione della galleria con sei designer di fama internazionale, Alessandro Mendini, Elena Salmistraro, Marcel Wanders, Marco Zanuso Jr, Stefano Giovannoni e Younghee Cha, chiamati a interpretare sotto forma di tavolini dalla forte valenza artistica, la Jagae (madreperla), materiale che incarna l’essenza dell’artigianato e della cultura orientale. Gli oggetti, in edizione limitata con soli 9 pezzi per modello, sono stati realizzati da Deokgun Jang e Gyesoon Kang, maestri artigiani che operano nella regione di Tongyeong, una delle più note per la produzione e lavorazione della madreperla.
마르셀 반더스, 엘레나 살미스트라로, 멘디니등을 포함한 세계적인 디자인 거장들과 나전칠기의 고장 한국 통영의 자개 장인과의 협업을 통한 자개테이블 전시 가 오는 2023년 04월 18일부터 04월 23일까지 밀라노 디자인 위크 기간동안 밀라노 트리엔날레 디자인 미술관에서 진행될 예정입니다.
본 전시에서 선보이는 자개 테이블 작품은 한국 통영의 자개 장인과 여섯 명의 세계적인 디자이너들이 각자의 해석으로 자개라는 전통의 재료를 탐구해 제작될 프로젝트이다. 전통의 자개와 세계의 디자이너가 만나 전통적인 재료인 자개가 동시대에 맞는 디자인 제품으로 재탄생 되어, 밀라노 디자인 미술관에서 선보일 예정입니다.
본 전시에서 선보이는 자개 테이블 작품은 한국 통영의 자개 장인과 여섯 명의 세계적인 디자이너들이 각자의 해석으로 자개라는 전통의 재료를 탐구해 제작될 프로젝트이다. 전통의 자개와 세계의 디자이너가 만나 전통적인 재료인 자개가 동시대에 맞는 디자인 제품으로 재탄생 되어, 밀라노 디자인 미술관에서 선보일 예정입니다.
